I’ll be honest, when Ed and Diane gave me my first jar of their Georgia Gold™ Fermented Probiotic Turmeric Purée, I was very skeptical. Its flavor is so unique and specific that I had no idea what to do with it, quite frankly. But it was the quality of the ingredients, and the probiotic benefit of fermentation, that kept me curious. Soon, I began testing recipes with it, and overtime it began to grow on me, so much so that I now enthusiastically proclaim it as my favorite Georgia Gold™ product!
As I continued to study its qualities, it seemed to crave sweetness as well as creaminess, so the first recipe I tested it for was a simple banana and orange juice smoothie that could be made with ingredients that most people have on-hand in their kitchen. Adding a splash of coconut rounds everything out nicely - it tamps down the bright acidity of the orange juice and elevates the flavor of the turmeric. For a shot of protein to balance out the fruit sugars, I add a tablespoon or two of hemp seeds. Just add a handful of baby spinach if you’d like to squeeze in a serving of greens - aside from the shift in color, you won’t even know it's there. It all comes together to create a super delicious and unbelievably healthy smoothie that your body - and the whole family - will love.
Recipe:
Makes 2 servings
3 frozen bananas
1 ½ cups orange juice
2 tbsp Georgia Gold™ fermented turmeric purée
2 tbsp hemp seeds
1 splash coconut milk
optional add-ins: 1 handful of baby spinach or greens of choice
Add all ingredients to a blender, and purée until smooth. Enjoy!
