I’d like to make my feelings about American Turmeric Company’s Georgia Gold™ Fermented Probiotic Turmeric Pureé official: it is my favorite of all the American Turmeric products.
In fact, it is one of my top 5 favorite food products available on the market today. And here’s why:
Everyday, the cultural consciousness is growing more and more aware of the importance of ingesting anti-inflammatory foods and the importance of supporting a healthy gut microbiome with fermented foods. The Fermented Probiotic Turmeric Pureé is the product for this moment, as it combines both of these essential health needs in one product.
The Georgia Gold™ Fermented Turmeric Pureé delivers on so many fronts: fresh turmeric rhizomes (grown on sustainable, organic microfarms in South Georgia to boot) are pureéd together with fresh ginger root, and fermented to microbiotic perfection. It yields a taste that is lively, refreshing, and a delight to cook with for both savory and sweet applications.
When I was first introduced to this product, the first thing that came to mind is that it smells and tastes eerily similar to a classic carrot salad dressing that you might find at a hibachi restaurant. Maybe it was just the shockingly orange color, but in my mind it screamed: make me into a salad dressing!
As chefs say, let the ingredients speak to you! So I did as I was told and recreated this classic salad dressing with the fermented pureé as the star ingredient. It is nothing short of fantastic. Not only is this dressing easy to make and incredibly delicious, but it is packed with healthy probiotics from the Georgia Gold™ fermentation process that helps to support healthy gut flora to improve digestion and reduce inflammation.
I love making this dressing at the start of the week so that whenever I am putting a salad or a vegetable plate I can just reach inside of my fridge and pull out a salad dressing that is as virtuous in its health qualities as it is delicious.
I love this dressing on top of baby greens with seasonally fresh vegetables, and it would also be a beautiful accompaniment to soy-marinated grilled salmon.
Who said eating healthy meant eating bad tasting food, anyhow?
Recipe
Fermented Turmeric + Ginger Dressing
½ cup extra virgin olive oil
⅓ rice vinegar
3 large carrots, roughly chopped (or finely grated if you don’t have a food processor or Vitamix)
2 tbsp Georgia Gold™ Fermented Probiotic Turmeric Pureé
Juice of ½ lime
2 tbsp honey
1 ½ tsp toasted sesame oil
¼ tsp kosher salt, more to taste
Place all of the ingredients together in a powerful blender or food processor. Blend to liquify and adjust seasonings to taste. Pour any extras into a container and keep in the fridge. It will stay fresh for about 1-2 weeks.
